Kimochis® Grade Level Roadmaps:
Building a Shared Language of Feelings Across a School Community
At Team Kimochis®, we believe educators are the best program managers. You know your students, your schedule, and your school community best, so you decide the pace of Kimochis® implementation. There is no single “right way”—only what works best for your classrooms and learners.
These Grade Level Roadmaps are designed as a flexible guide for lesson planning and a schoolwide view of how Kimochis® skills are introduced, reinforced, and scaffolded across grade levels. Rather than a script to follow, they provide a developmentally aligned pathway for building a shared language of feelings and strengthening social-emotional learning year after year.
Time Commitment
• For strong skill retention, aim for one 15-minute lesson each week or two 6–8 minute lessons each week. Consistency matters more than perfection.
• Consider incorporating a brief Kimochis® Circle after recess, during Morning Meeting, or after lunch to help students strengthen relationships and practice communication skills.
Getting Started
1. Use the Roadmap alongside your Kimochis® Curriculum Feel Guide to understand the scope and sequence for your grade level.
2. We recommend following the roadmap sequence, but Kimochis® is not a cookiecutter” program. As your confidence grows, adapt lessons and explore additional activities that best meet your students’ needs.
Remember: At Kimochis®, we believe in DO-ABLE DOSES™. Review the roadmap for guidance, return to it as needed, and focus on steady, sustainable implementation—not perfection.
Most importantly, have fun building emotional skills, one meaningful moment at a time.
